Frazadas are beautiful pieces of textiles handwoven by the local artisans of the central Andes. Frazadas take about a month to complete. They are made with sheep's wool colored with natural dyes which create thick and colorful pieces, each unique in color and design.
Due to the time and effort required to create these exquisite textiles and the rise of the mining industry in Peru, artisans are going in search of better sources of income to provide for their families and as a result the practice of weaving these textiles is in decline. Frazadas and other traditional handmade products are becoming more and more scarce.
